La Scatola dell’Arte (literally, “The Art Box”) is a training and production choreographic centre, located in the heart of Rome in the San Lorenzo district, ten minutes away from Termini Railway Station. It is composed of two open spaces facing a courtyard, with a wooden floor specific for dancing. The halls are bright and quiet, ideal for the necessary concentration for practicing the disciplines of the body and spirit.

Management and artistic direction are led by Patrizia Cavola and Ivan Truol, the choreographers who founded the Atacama Dance Company, which is permanently based in the centre.

It is a place dedicated to artistic training and, particularly, to contemporary dance and physical theatre training, pursued by understanding and studying all the possibilities of the body.

It hosts aristic research and experimentation activities. It is the place of artistic residency, production and support to dance and theatre companies’ creation and rehearsal. It hosts dance and theatre social and community workshops. It is a performance space for public openings of creative residencies, workshops and jam sessions.

During the week, La Scatola dell’Arte offers Contemporary Dancemeetings to its registered members, particularly focusing on techniques like Release, Floor Work, Contact, Improvisation, Dance and Voice, and Dance Theatre.

It also offers meetings of Classical Indian Dance: Bharata Natyam, African Dance, Argentinian Tango, Hatha Yoga, Tai Chi Chuan, Pilates, Biodance, Physical Theatre, Linklater, Meditation, and Aikido.

At weekends, seminars and workhops are scheduled with internationally renown teachers.
